For the first time in Indian cinema history, two Amitabh Bachchan films released on the same Friday. 'Khakee', and Vikram Bhatt's 'Aetbaar'. Clash like never before. Director Rajkumar Santoshi directed Big 'B' for the first time. Keshu Ramsay's this film fits him into the far more heroic mould of cop (a role he has played repeatedly since his first hit, 'Zanjeer') transporting a hardened criminal (Ajay Devgan) to his nemesis. Rajkumar Santoshi is going to change the present trend with this film 'Khakee'. Hindi cinema has habitually ridiculed the police and misrepresented the noble profession. Rajkumar remined us that it is the time to change all that. Every profession has its flock of black sheep but they also have their white knights. By the end of the movie, it seems that it isn't fair to generalise.

Story:
The story starts with a routine mission of shifting an ISI terrorist Iqbal Ansari from Chandanghad to Mumbai, ended as a nightmare. The first escort team of police officers was ambushed midway, blown to bits. But a brave officer managed to ensure that Ansari did not escape. Now another team was being sent to do this job from Mumbai. This crucial assignment was being given to DCP Anant Shrivastav "The Professor" (Amitabh Bachchan), on the eve of his daughter's wedding. The officer, in the winter of his career, was a failure in the eyes of the establishment and more important in his own. This was his one last chance to do something and prove himself. The third on the list was Sub-Inspector Ashwin Gupte (Akshay Kumar), a young middle class rookie officer on his first serious assignment. He was going to find out the hard way that there was a massive difference between training school and the ground reality of the harsh, corrupt and a violent world out there. These three officers accompanied by two constables were now given the charge of escorting the dreaded terrorist and a crucial witness in the case against him, from Chandanghad to Mumbai. But someone out there didn't want them to get to Mumbai. A nameless, faceless enemy who was always one step ahead of them and would do all he could…to stop them. Thus a three-day assignment would become a never-ending nightmare. An overnight journey would become a journey into a dark world of brutality, corruption, conspiracies and terror. Street-smart, brave but rotten to the core, Sr. Inspector Shekhar Sachdev (Ajay Devgan), for whom the lines between good and bad, right and wrong had blurred a long time ago, was also forced on this mission. . He didn't want to be a part of any suicide mission, but had no choice. The third on the list was Sub-Inspector Ashwin [Tusshar Kapoor], a young officer on his first serious assignment. He was going to find out the hard way that there was a massive difference between training school and the ground reality of the harsh, corrupt and a violent world out there.
These three officers accompanied by two constables were now given the charge of escorting the dreaded terrorist from Chandangadh to Mumbai. But someone out there didn't want them to get to Mumbai. And the film moves towards climax. If you want to know it, go and watch out the rare cop film, ever made in Indian film history.

Performance: As per performance is concerned, Amitabh Bachchan delivers one of his best performance in his career. Sometimes, his gesture and tight-lipped silence make understand the character's helplessness and many other complexes. Akshay Kumar really performed his best. Ajay Devgan continued his good acting, better to say award winning acting in this film also. Aishwarya Rai proved her talent excellently. Tussar Kapoor played very small role in this film, but left a positive impact, indeed. Lara Dutt looks sexy and convincing in item number 'Aisa Jadoo'. Veteran Tanuja and Jaya Prada justified adequately to their name and fame. Over all director RajKumar Santoshi has extracted the best performances from all the cast.

Overall: 'Khakee' emphasises on the pressures cops endure in the course of duty. It emphasises on the ruthlessness of life and the changing equations in buureaucracy. The politician and the police force and subsequently, between the police and the common man. It's a film of extraordinary team work. Rajkumar Santoshi's this latest film is electrifying and explosive. It is one of the most exhilarating thrillers to reach the screen in recent memory. Everybody has done wonderful job in each and every aspects of film making. This film has very high chance to be a blockbuster.
