Everything is a result of your decisions and it has been a different experience producing a film for the first time. Right now I am nervous because as a producer you are never satisfied and you want more. But we have taken care of every detail and it has been organised well. We have had a great team, and I have learnt a lot in the process,” says Saif Ali Khan, who is all ready with his first production Love Aaj Kal.
When asked if he had shown the film to his girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, Saif smiles and says, “Yes, and she loved it.”
Love Aaj Kal is a love story and when asked about his take on love, he says, “Love a lot and give a lot of love in life is what I believe in. My perception has changed and it is a lot more mature now. As long as you’re feeling it, it’s a good thing.”
The film stars Deepika Padukone in the lead opposite Saif, and with reports that Kareena was keen on taking on the role, the actor laughs and says, “None of the directors listen to me. Imitaz (Ali) felt that Deepika suited the role better. But yes, I think we look nice and refreshing. She’s very grounded and mature. Her personality grounds me on the screen just like Rani Mukerji does. They are very earthy just the opposite of me.”
The film also stars a newcomer who has been a kept a secret so far. “It’s going to be a nice surprise. Her name is Harleen and she’s really good. She’s not here at the moment because we wanted to keep the main focus on Deepika and myself right now,” reveals Saif.
