Yash Raj's new release TASHAN hasn't opened to the
desired response. Since the movie hasn't released at multiplexes,
the distributors are bound to lose a substantial chunk of
revenue. At single screens, however, the response wasn't as
expected. The film had a 70% start, but there were reports
of business sliding downwards as day progressed. The reports
are negative and the biggie is not likely to sustain in days
to come.
The second release, SIRF - LIFE LOOKS GREENER ON THE OTHER
SIDE, has opened to a dull response.
Let's face it, IPL has taken a toll on Bollywood's health,
with cineplexes wearing a deserted look. You find more ushers
in a cineplex than viewers since last few days. Cricket mania
has gripped the entire nation!
One of the most anticipated movies of the year, it promises
oodles of ishtyle and substance. Starring Saif, Kareena, Akshay
& Anil in the lead.
The verdict is out! Tashan- Saifeena's (that is Saif-Kaeena
for you) first on screen outing after they started dating
has got a thumbs down from fans. On the contrary, most people
have found the Akshay Kumar-Kareena Kapoor chemistry to be
far more sizzling. What's more, Akki even gets to smooch Bebo
during an intense action sequence in the climax. Saif and
Kareena have only reinforced an age-old Bollywood jinx: real
life couples generally spell doom at the box office. Some
may say Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif are an exception. But
in both their hits, Partner and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya they
weren't paired together, while Yuvraj is yet to release.
Agreed, you are valued by the number of hits along side your
name, but a good actor will always last more than people who
don't know the grammar of acting right. Ajay has it in him
and it's a matter of just one hit.
All's not well with one of tinsel town's biggest filmmakers
- Yash Raj Studios. We all remember the big hype that was
created around Tashan, which happens to be their first and
worst release of 2008. Not to mention their series of poor
grossers in 2007 like Ta Ra Rum Pum and Jhoom Barabar.
Not wanting this bad streak to continue throughout this year,
Yash Chopra has stepped in, questioning his son Aditya Chopra's
judgement, reports Mumbai Mirror. Chopra senior is said to
be deeply disturbed with the way Tashan turned out especially
with the shoddy negotiations with multiplex owners demanding
55 per cent of the first weeks collections. Having Rs 3.5
billion at stake in the next 15 months to come, Yash Chopra
wants to leave no stone unturned to make sure that his audiences
aren't left unsatisfied.
